NordShield®, offering a revolutionary antimicrobial technology that is safe for users and environment, has partnered with Austrian based Backhausen Textile Consulting for distribution in Austria and Germany.
The new normal is one in which antimicrobial solutions are part of everyday life. To ensure such to be sustainable, NordShield® has over the past decade developed and commercialized a biodegradable alternative. Current standard solutions are based on heavy metal based solutions such as silver zeolites, silver salts, copper and zinc. All of these are non-renewable substances that are harmful, leach into the environment and even into the bodies of those wearing textiles treated with heavy metals. With NordShield®, the safer and natural based biotechnology is now available in Germany and Austria.
"The Doomsday Clock is 100 seconds to midnight, which means we all need to act. Our response is to ensure rapid market adaptation of sustainable antimicrobial technology through NordShield®. Germany and Austria are known for high quality products, and we are proud that NordShield® is now available alongside them. Reinhard Backhausen as a respected and experienced player in the field of textiles is a great fit to represent us in these markets."
Kristoffer Ekman, CEO of NordShield®
Fields of application for the NordShield® technology include fibres and textiles such as in garments or face masks, as well as medical devices, personal care solutions and long-lasting disinfectants.
The NordShield® Brilliant segment brings a fully new kind of disinfectant to the market, as it offers long-term protection. Before the market entry of NordShield® Brilliant products, disinfectants have been based on alcohol as active substance to eliminate microbes and germs. The effect of alcohol is short lived and after it has evaporated, typically in a matter of seconds, the treated surface or skin is exposed to contamination again. NordShield® Brilliant products contain alcohol for the immediate kill effect, however, the long-lasting efficacy is derived from its disruptive technology that is based on the unique layer which does not evaporate but forms a physical, armor-like barrier on the treated surface. Thus, upon application, the unique antimicrobial barrier formulation of NordShield® Brilliant technology provides both an immediate kill and sustained inactivation of microbes through the layer, which has been proven to be in place even five weeks after application. The duration can vary based on the surface and the strain on it.
The NordShield® Fiber solutions contain NordShield® EcoLayr, a natural based solution for protecting textiles from mold during transport and warehousing; NordShield® BioLayr, a biodegradable and non-biocidal, antiviral and antibacterial treatment for consumer textiles such as clothes, which keeps its antimicrobial efficacy a minimum of 30 washes; and NordShield® Pathogen Barrier, an equally durable and sustainable CE-marked solution classified as class I medical device for antimicrobial protection in the medical field.
NordShield® as a commercial technology was born after more than 10 years of researching, developing, testing, verifying, certifying and patenting. The result is a revolutionary technology with a unique combination of naturality, power and efficacy. This highly scalable technology enables the strongest protection with highest naturality - a creation as unique and powerful as nature, and one that leaves nothing but goodness behind.
"Immediately when I learned about the existence of NordShield® through media, I knew that this technology must be brought also to the attention of German and Austrian market players. Sustainability and antimicrobial protection are not just trends, and in order to ensure all our safety, they must be the norm. I am thrilled to be contributing to ensuring this in such a strong way through the offering of NordShield®."
